I Am Me; A Biracial Person is a nonfiction children’s picture book written in narrative verse for children ages 5 to 12. The story is structured using dialog between Nana and her grandson who grows up looking and feeling different than his community. It touches on issues of self-doubt, racial stereotyping, bias, seeking authenticity, and validation.

Author's Bio

Gail Lincoln lives in Maine with her husband Matt, black labrador Belle, and a rescue cat, Ollie. Gail has two adult children, Elizabeth and Phillip and a son-in-law, Tristin Oldmixon who embrace with her the words, “Family is where life begins, and love never ends.” Gail loves to write, garden, and enjoys outdoor activities all year!

Retired from 38 years of education, Gail spends her time creating her forever garden with her family and friends’ favorite perennials and writing children’s books. Currently, she has two children’s picture books and one children’s chapter book in the beginning process of publishing through Amazon.

First to print is, I Am Me, A Biracial Person written in poetic verse and based on and co-written by her son in law Tristin Oldmixon. Resource pages addressing the Civil Rights Movement and important activist in the crusade. Gail the educator included the essential children friendly vocabulary pages to support understanding of the meaning of the text.

 

Second to print, Alien Ollie’s Antics Through the Milky Way is the first of a series of children’s science fiction chapter books for ages 9 to 11, with nonfiction elements added.

 

The third book, Birdie, A Song in Our Hearts, written in poetic verse based on the love and grief of losing her best friend to cancer.
